Open Safari on your iPhone
Other browsers like Chrome or Firefox cannot install web apps on iOS. You must use Safari for this step. (Once installed, you can use anything you want.)

Go to app.gcrsentinel.com
Type the URL into the address bar, or scan the QR code on this page with the camera app and tap the link that appears.

Tap the Share button
The Share icon is the square with an arrow pointing up. It's at the bottom-center of the screen on iPhone and the top-right on iPad.

Choose "Add to Home Screen"
Scroll the share sheet until you see this option. Tap it. Confirm the name on the next screen (it should say GCR Sentinel) and tap Add.

Find the icon on your Home Screen
GCR Sentinel will appear like any other app. Tap it to open. The browser bar disappears — it looks and feels like the App Store version.

iOS push notifications require iOS 16.4 or newer and that you open the app from the home-screen icon at least once. SMS, email, and Pushover work regardless.

Common questions

Should I use the App Store / Play Store version or this one?+

Either works — same account, same alerts, same subscription. The App Store / Play Store version is one tap to update; the home-screen install never needs a store visit at all. Use whichever you prefer.

Is this safe?+

Yes. You're installing a website that we built and operate from our own domain (gcrsentinel.com). It runs in your phone's standard browser sandbox. We never ask for system-level permissions you wouldn't grant any other website — only the ones you explicitly opt into for alerts.

I already did the web install — do I need to switch to the store version?+

No. The web install keeps working exactly as it does today. If you'd rather have the store version, install it and sign in — your account, subscription, and alert preferences carry over, because all of that lives in your account, not on the device.

Can I get push notifications without the App Store version?+

On iPhone (iOS 16.4 and newer), yes — but you must Add to Home Screen first, then open the app from your home screen icon (not from Safari) to receive push permission. On Android, push works directly. SMS, email, and Pushover alerts work regardless of how you installed.

Which one should I install?+

Whichever you like — they're the same app. iPhone: the App Store. Android: Google Play. Either way you can search "GCR Sentinel" on your phone, or use the buttons above. The web install stays available if you'd rather not use a store at all.
